Whites Landscaping Staplehurst 5 & 10k

11th June 2023 (9.30am)

Pre-Race Info

Please note that the start time has been moved forward by 30 minutes due to the high temperatures expected on Sunday.

Race HQ

Race HQ is once again on Surrenden Playing Field in Staplehurst (TN12 0LY).  Ample parking and toilets are available on site.  For anyone arriving by train, race HQ is around 10 minutes walk from Staplehurst Railway Station.

HQ opens at 8am, where you will be able to collect your race number and safety pins.  Your timing chip is on the back of your number, please do not touch these, as this could result in your time not being accurately recorded.

Toilets and Refreshments

Toilets are situated in the scout hut, which is just up the alley next to registration, this is clearly shown on the map below.  Refreshments will also be available in the scout hut.

Baggage

Baggage can be left at the timing tent next to the finish line.

The Start

The race starts on the far side of the field, please congregate here at 9.25am, where the race director will give a brief race briefing.  Both races will start together at 9.30am.

The course

The course starts with a lap of the field, before heading out of the entry gate.  The first part of the route is around the roads of Staplehurst and these are not closed to traffic, marshals will be there to help manage traffic flow, but please be careful and considerate to other road users.  The route then heads out into the country where traffic shouldn't be such an issue, but please remain aware that the roads are open to traffic.  The race will be preceded by a lead car, complete with race clock, every turn is clearly signposted and we have over 20 marshals on the course, so there is absolutely no excuse for getting lost!

Water

Due to the expected high temperatures on Sunday, we will have 2 water stations on the course, one of these will be passed twice.  The first water station will be at around the half way point in the 5k, so will be passed at around 2.5k and 7.5k in the 10k event.  The second water station for the will be situated just after the halfway point of the 10k, near Hush Heath Winery.  Plenty of water will also be available at the finish.

Medics

Medics will be situated out on the course and also at the finish, if you feel you are struggling and need a medic then please speak to your nearest marshal.

The finish

The finish is back in Surrenden Field, as you enter the field just run straight up through the finish arch.  Once you have finished you will be handed a medal, please keep moving through the finish area.  Ample water and finish line goodies will be available.

Race Times

Once you have finished and recovered, feel free to visit us at the timing tent, this will be situated next to the finish line.  Here you will be able to collect a mini-print of your race time.  Race times will also be sent live-to-web, so will be available on our results site as soon as you cross the line.

Prize Giving

A prize giving will be held for both races at around 10.45am next to the timing tent.  These are reasonably small events with a good number of prizes, so can very often throw up some interesting age group and team results.  I would therefore strongly advise that everyone attends the prize giving ceremony!

Refreshments

As previously mentioned, refreshments will be available in the scout hut which is shown on the map below.  Apparently last years race day was one of the busiest days of the year for the local Gregs(!), so why not support the scouts instead!?

Most importantly we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday for a safe and enjoyable race.
